Pasco County Road Being Called a “Death Trap”

Recently, a Pasco County man was riding his bicycle down the side of Boyette Road in Wesley Chapel when he was struck and killed. Deputies are seeking any helpful information on this most recent tragic hit and run incident.

This tragedy has led local residents to vocalize their continued concern over this road they are calling a “Death Trap.” Residents have labeled it a “death trap” due to the narrowness of the road with no shoulder or designated area for bicyclists and pedestrians. They say with the increase in traffic there is an increase in risks for bicyclists and pedestrians.

Pasco County is acknowledging the dangers on this road. They have stated a sidewalk project for this road will be designed in the 2020-21 fiscal year and will be constructed in the 2022-23 fiscal year.

Drivers should always stay alert and be on the lookout for bicyclists and pedestrians while driving.
